Important roadworks information

A14 westbound junctions 22 to 18 – resurfacing

I am writing to tell you that we plan to carry out resurfacing work on the A14 westbound junctions 22 to 18. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.

We plan to complete this work over three nights between Wednesday 20 November and Saturday 23 November 2024. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 westbound junctions 22 to 18 and divert traffic as detailed below:

Motorway traffic

• Drivers travelling westbound on the A14 should take the exit at junction 22 and follow the A1/A1(M). At the roundabout take the second exit and then at the second roundabout take the second exit. At the Brampton Hut Interchange, take the first exit and continue northbound on the A1/A1(M) and exit at the A1(M) junction 17. Stay in the left lane, and at the Fletton Parkway Interchange take the first exit onto A605. Continue along the A605 for approximately 14.5 miles to A14 junction 13 near Thrapston. Then head eastbound to junction 18 where the diversion will end.

Non-Motorway traffic

• Drivers travelling westbound on the A14 and wishing to avoid the A1(M) should take the exit at junction 22 and follow the A1. At the first roundabout take the second exit, then at the next roundabout take the second exit. At the Brampton Hut Interchange, take the first exit and continue northbound on the A1 towards Alconbury. Take the first exit slip off the A1 and join B1043, passing through Stangate Hill and Old North Road. At Norman Cross Interchange, take the second exit onto London Road (A15) and continue on London Road (A15) for approximately 3.4 miles. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto The Serpentine (A1260), and at the second roundabout take the second exit. At the Hampton Roundabout take the first exit and merge onto the A1139 Fletton Parkway. Stay on Fletton Parkway for approximately 2.3 miles. Then at the Fletton Parkway Interchange take the second exit onto the A605. Follow the A605 for approximately 14.5 miles to rejoin the A14 at junction 13 near Thrapston. Then head eastbound to junction 18 and the diversion will end.
